Who we are

The game
Motive Power runs on your own computer. It collects no personal information and sends nothing to us. If you buy the game on Steam, Valve handles that purchase under its own privacy policy.
This website
motivepowergame.com uses no cookies, analytics or tracking. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as IP addresses in order to deliver and protect the site. We use this on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
Our mailing list
If you join the mailing list we collect your email address, your first name if you give it, and a record of when and how you agreed to hear from us. We use this only to send news about Motive Power, such as development updates, the demo and the release. Our legal basis is your consent.
The list is run by MailerLite, which stores and sends our emails for us. Like most email services, MailerLite records whether our emails are opened and which links are clicked, and we use this only to judge which news is useful.
Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also unsubscribe by emailing us. When you unsubscribe we stop emailing you straight away. We keep your email address on a “do not contact” list only so that we can honour that choice.
If you email us
When you email contact@motivepowergame.com, the message is routed by Cloudflare and stored in our Google email account. We use it only to reply and deal with your query, on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you. We keep it as long as needed, and normally delete it within two years.
Founder Edition purchases
If you buy a Founder Edition licence from us directly, we keep your name, email address, the date and amount paid, what we supplied, and your choice about being named in the credits. We use this to provide what you bought, including your Steam key, refunds and support (to perform our contract with you), and to keep the business records the law requires (legal obligation). We keep these records for six years after the end of the tax year of the sale.
Who we share information with
Only the services named above, which act on our instructions: MailerLite (email), Cloudflare (website and email routing) and Google (email). We never sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, they use safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US data bridge.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict or stop using it, and withdraw your consent at any time. Email contact@motivepowergame.com and we will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.
Children
The mailing list is not intended for anyone under 13.
Changes
If we change this notice we will update the date at the top.
